Growing up we had a gorgeous antique bed, passed down from my grandmother. It was very ornate and well-built, as most furniture was constructed very well a century ago. We loved the bed and the idea of sleeping in the same furniture our ancestors, however, mattresses 100 years ago were not the same size as today, and so a full size was too small and a queen size mattress did not fit inside the headboard and the footboard.
